Micro Molding

The world of micro molding is growing more than it used to be. With advancements in research and technology, the number of applications where micro-molding is practiced is accelerating. It is used in medical devices, drug delivery, sensors, aerospace, and other industries that depend on ultra-small parts. Likewise Aos specializes in microinjection molded parts for medical devices. We build strong communication with our clients to give the best outcome that meets their requirements.

Q) What is micro injection molding?

Microinjection molding is a molding process that aids in the manufacturing of very small parts and elements. It is referred to as a tight method but found very beneficial in the medical industry where these micro molded parts can be utilized in surgical devices and other various applications.

Q) How thin can you injection mold plastic?

When designing the product the key factor that plays a significant role is the thickness of the product’s wall. Thicker walls will offer more power but they do have drawbacks when the plastic cools down in the mold. Well, the thickness of the wall is determined by the vitality and structural requirements of the product or component. However, typically the minimum wall thickness for injection molding is 0.3mm.

Q) What is used for injection?

Injection molding uses a ram or screw-type plunger to compel molten plastic or rubber material into a mold cavity. This then thickens into a shape that takes the structure of the mold. What is a small injection? Injection molding is a technique in which plastic resin, which is in a pellet form, is heated and trimmed to turn into a thick state. After which huge pressure is injected into a steel or aluminum mold, which is then cooled down to make it hard and eject. With this small injection molding process, we can produce sophisticated small shapes which proves a cost-effective technique.

Q) What are the three types of molds?

The three main types of molds are:

  • Prototype: This type of mold is best for prototypes and low volumes of parts. The benefits of these molds are that they have a lower cost than production molds, are fast built, and are guaranteed for 10,000 parts.
  • Production: Production molds are built to tolerate high production volumes.
  • Export: Occasionally, there are situations where the customer demands us to build the mold for them, but they want to create the parts in another facility.

Q) What are the advantages of micro injection molding?

The advantages of using micro-injection molding are

  • cost-effectiveness for the mass production process,
  • It is available for a wide range of thermoplastics,
  • It is probable for full automation with short cycle times,
  • It has considerable dimension control and precise shape replication.

At AOS we have a specialist team that is capable of making injection molding far more cost-effective. Using advanced techniques, we can meet customer requirements perfectly.
